What do I like about what I do?
I love teaching people about their bodies. The human body is an amazing machine and when patients understand why they are hurting or having symptoms, they feel more "in control" of their symptoms. I want my patients to know why they hurt, what changes we are making in the body, and why they feel better. I have had patients break down and cry after I explain their symptoms because, for the first time, a doctor acknowledges that they are not "crazy" and there actually is a solution! To see hope come back to a patient who has lost it is a fantastic thing.

If I weren't a chiropractor, what would I be?
Probably a frustrated M.D. Before I went to chiropractic school, I had planned on medical school. After shadowing a few doctors in family practices, I had to rethink things. I followed the doctors from room to room to see patient after patient who was overweight, eating a candy bar, drinking a diet coke, or reeking of cigarette smoke. Instead of talking with the patient about real health, the doc would pull out the prescription pad, write a drug name down, give it to the patient and move on the next. After a few days of that, I was convinced that I was meant for something else. After talking with my chiropractor, who I had seen since I was a little kid, I decided to try out Palmer College of Chiropractic and I haven't looked back.

What is my favorite procedure that I perform?
I never thought I would enjoy adjusting feet... until I started working on bunions. Most people don't think of a chiropractor for bunion pain. Just like joints of the spine, the joints of the foot can lose their proper alignment and go into an abnormal range of motion. This joint dysfunction causes chronic muscle strain and joint inflammation (aka: arthritis). We help with arthritic joints every day. There is a very specific 5 step adjustment protocol to correcting a bunion. If we can take the stress off of the joint, we can stop the pain and keep the bump from getting worse.

Why did I choose chiropractic as a career?

I have been going to the chiropractor for as long as I can remember. My parents were chiropractic patients and they realized that when I was sick, I would get better just as fast with an adjustment as with a round of antibiotics. By getting adjusted, my nervous system was able to function at a higher level, boosting my immune system to fight off the infection. I have grown up with regular chiropractic check-ups and the transition to chiropractic school was an easy one for me. I love what I do and I love seeing the changes that chiropractic has brought to my patients.

How did I end up practicing in Mexico?

I worked in Orlando for about 5 years. After a number of trips with the Palmer Clinic Abroad Program, I got the travel bug and decided to spread chiropractic to an under-served area. A fellow chiropractor recommended a few cities in Mexico that were in need of chiropractors. After some research, I settled on a city called Guanajuato in central Mexico. After a few months, I opened a second location in the nearby city of Leon. In an area of almost 2 million people, I was THE chiropractor. I brought in a local Mexican chiropractor to take over the clinics and returned to join Dr. Jacobs in 2013.  We met at Palmer Chiropractic College Florida and have been good friends since starting the Gonstead club there and I knew it would be a good move to join him.
